2001 FIS World Freestyle Skiing Championships

The Whistler/Blackcomb ski resort hosted the 2001 FIS World Freestyle Skiing Championships during our stay. This event is held every two years to see who's the best in the aerial and mogul freestyle skiing events.

It was a great experience to watch them in person. When you see it on television, it's just not the same. I've broken the pictures into the following groups. Click on the hyperlink to view the pictures for that group.

Aerial competition
Pictures from the aerial competitions, where the skiers perform twists and turns up to 50 feet above the ground.

Single mogul competition
Pictures from the single mogul competition, which was on a very nasty and fast course.

Opening ceremonies

Award ceremonies, single mogul competition
The top six places for both men and women were given awards. These are pictures from the single mogul award ceremony.
