California side of Heavenly ski resort

The California side of Heavenly is where we started from. To reach the slopes, you have to take either the Gunbarrel Express chair lift or the gondola up to the intermediate point, which is at 8,250 feet. The slope you are being taken over is a double black diamond with a 1,500 foot drop. To get down off the mountain, you have to take one of these two lifts.

This is the view while going down the lift, looking toward the California Lodge, at 6,540 feet. Watch that first step - it's a big one!

If you are skiing on the Nevada side and take the California Trail to get to the California side, you are greeted with this sign:

When you reach the top of the Ridge ski lift, you are rewared with a wondrful view of south Lake Tahoe.

This is a part of Liz's, a very nice intermediate ski run. Ironically, it was steeper and harder than the Ellie's ski run, which was a black diamond!

If you take the Sky Express ski lift to the top, this is the view you get from there. The trail you see on the right is the Skyline Trail, which takes you into Nevada.

This is at the top of the Ridge ski lift. It's the starting point for a number of intermediate ski runs, which are very nice.

The Ridge Run is a long intermediate that takes you into a small bowl area. It's also the trail to take if you want to return to the California Lodge base.

This is Powerderbowl Run, another intermediate. It also ends in a small bowl, which takes you directly to the ski lifts for leaving the mountain. Unfortunately, they decided to put moguls on part of it, which annoyed me. Yes, I don't like moguls.
