The High Peaks Trail actually starts on the east
side, at the Chalone Creek picnic area. It winds its way westward into the High
Peaks region and then moves south toward Moses Creek. This section at the top
requires going over rocks and climbing up and down some stairs that were cut into
the rocks. There were a couple of places where we had to duck. It gives some very
nice views of the entire park.
This is on the Tunnel Trail, which is appropriately named. To get from the west
side to the east side of the High Peaks, you have to go through a tunnel. The
second picture in the top row shows how far up we are. You can see the parking
lot in the lower right corner.
