The Balconies Trail starts off at the Chaparral trailhead
and goes northwest. If you continue to follow it, you will end up on the east
side of the park. You follow a creek and then end up at the Balconies Caves.
The "caves" are really nothing more than a section where rocks fell
down and arranged themselves in such a way that it created a cave. It was a little
tricky walking through it because of the low ceilings and some water that made
the footing a little interesting. One part had a stream going through it.
These are pictures from the trailhead of the pinnacle rocks.
These are pictures from the Balconies Caves. Notice that the headroom is a little
tight.
The Balconies Trail follows along a creek, where you can view the Balconies formations.
We took the Balconies Cliffs Trail back to the trailhead, which takes you above
the creek area and along the bottom of the Balconies, where you can get nice views
to the east.
