Unfortunately, the place was overrun with tourists which made it hard to get around.
It was a zoo. There was also a lot of smoke in the air from all of the forest
fires to the north and west of the park, which made it very hard to breathe inside
the campground, which wasn't all that great. I decided to cut it short and drive
back home for my health, where I decided to camp at Point
Reyes National Seashore.
Before I left, I drove up to the rim and took a few shots so I could say I saw
the lake. Click on the preview picture below to see the full image. The haze you
see is the smoke from the forest fires pouring over the west rim of the crater.
Notice that the middle shot in the second row of the east rim is perfectly clear.
